About Us

What We Believe

We believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and the Savior of the World. We affirm that the Bible is the most authoritative source for our faith and practice. We believe in an active, working Christianity, which means that we provide a wide range of missionary programs, both locally and globally. We also work in conjunction with other churches in the area, regardless of denomination, to achieve community and spiritual goals.

RPC is unique because we are part of two denominations—the
Presbyterian Church USA and the Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
We are the only church in the area which has an allegiance to both
denominations. We feel this adds to our services by blending a piece
of each denomination in our rituals and traditions.

Communion is served on the first Sunday of each month. Communion is served two ways: you may come forward and receive the bread and “wine”; or stay seated and a serving Elder will bring the elements to you. Everyone is invited to participate in communion--you do not have to be a member of our church.

Our Choir is open to everyone who wishes to participate. The choir often performs musical cantata's,
dramas, or special holiday presentations. You might have someone performing a solo on the piano, organ, or hear a duet, trio or quartet.

Children’s Activities

Our church is very "child-friendly". Many of our adult church members are/were teachers or work with children in some capacity. The children's sermon is offered during our regular worship service. Activities planned for kids throughout the year usually include: bowling; going to "Blazer's" (an indoor amusement/fun center); Vacation Bible School; Kids' Cooking and seasonal events such as a birthday party for Jesus, a visit from the Easter bunny, summer camp, etc. Your child will receive education about God and Jesus through "hands-on", developmentally appropriate, fun activities. There is also a staffed nursery for young children.

Women's Group

The women in our church meet regularly. Usually lunch is held either in a local restaurant or someone's home. The women participate in various fundraisers throughout the year in order to be able to contribute to charitable organizations and fund specific projects.

Community Involvement

Members of our congregation are active in the community and are involved in many civic and charitable organizations. RPC donates to many missions and charitable organizations (click here to see all of the missions/charities we support). We often allow non-profit organizations the use of our church, such as the Boy Scouts and the Korean Choir.

Fellowship Dinners

We pride ourselves on our southern hospitality and love nothing better than sharing a meal together. Fellowship dinners are the third Sunday of each month. Dinners are held directly after church or at 5:30 pm. Dinners may center around a theme or offer games or other entertainment.

Sunday Service

Come dressed respectfully, but comfortably for our Sunday Services. We believe that each Sunday is a new opportunity to experience a renewed spiritual experience in your own individual way. Our Pastor, Dr. John Lentz, reminds us each week that what one may receive from the sermon/service might be very different from what another person receives.

We often have tea, coffee and doughnuts in our Fellowship Hall before our Sunday Service. You will be greeted by members of the congregation and ushers upon entering our church. We blend a traditional church service with new concepts and technology. The congregation actively participates in each service through Bible readings, and the recitation of prayers and the Apostles' Creed.
